10th Annual San Diego All-ACC Picnic

Pre-picnic golf teams can be assembled and UM needs at least one foursome. You game?

Location: Admiral Baker Recreation Center, 2400 Admiral Baker Road, San Diego
Who: ACC Fans, friends, alumni, co-workers, and family.
Cost: $17 early registration (ends 5/23); $20 at the "door" ($5 for children 5-15; FREE for young children) ; $1 parking fee at the park
Food: Chicken, BBQ pork, hotdogs, cole slaw, potato salad, potato chips, hush puppies, soda, water, sweet tea, watermelon and cookies.
Alcohol: Guests may bring their own beer, but no glass bottles allowed.
Notes: No pets allowed. Alumni, friends, family, and anyone else who would enjoy the experience is welcome to join you and attend.

Event: A Day in Pompeii Exhibit + Movie Experience
Location: San Diego National History Museum - Balboa Park
Date: Sunday April 27, 2008

Who: UM Fans, friends, alumni, co-workers, and family.
Notes: Includes a 30-minute movie "Pompeii: The Last Day," with show times of 2, 3, and 4pm.

Event: Day at the Races II
Who: Alumni and friends. Invite anyone you'd like.
Date: Sun. August 26, 2007
Time: 11:30am-4:30pm
Location: Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in the Pacific Pavilion, Del Mar, CA (a.k.a. "The Del Mar Racetrack" infield) 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar, CA
Purpose: Equestrians Galore & Relationships to Explore. Good times for all.
Tickets: $15/per person 18+ and $10/per person 17 and under; at the door $5 more per person.; Includes: (1) Admission to the track and our event, (2) "Pot Luck" style food and beverages (all who attend will bring something, coordinated with us prior), and (3) a portion of the proceeds that will go to the University of Maryland Incentive Awards Program, a full-ride scholarship program for Maryland high school students. $100s worth of door prizes will also be provided.
Notes: There are 9 races this day. The gates open at 11:30, the first race begins at 2 pm, and the last race runs at 6pm.

College Admissions Process Event

Former Alumni Club President, Liam Dunfey, will be leading a free interactive discussion about the current college admissions process at the Mission Valley Library (2123 Fenton Parkway, just west of IKEA) on April 16th from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. He will be discussing financial aid, myths and realities, fit vs. brand name institutions, and recent trends. Liam co-founded University Advisors/Admission Specialists in 2004. They provide timely and wise assistance for each student in the process of considering appropriate colleges to apply to and attend. Liam earned his Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Maryland in 2000.
